I saw an Angel

There was a melody.
Singing in chorus.
Chanting. Rejoicing.
I looked up the sky.
I saw an angel.
Ecstatic.
Amazed.
I asked if I was dead.
Totally not.
I held her hand.
I couldn't feel a thing.
I was numb.
I was totally numb.
I know it wasn't fair.
It's not contentment.
But it was a consolation.
